I know that I haven't updated in a while, and there have been a few site hiccups. I'm sorry about all that, and I've got some news that should make up for it. I am removing Kestrel's Sketchbook, and replacing it with an entirely new gallery as part of an assignment in one of my graphics classes. I also expect to completely overhaul the website over winter break, as I have a professional on call to help me with any code issues and such. (Vincent, I love you, Marry me. XD)

I am announcing the contests for K&R's first anniversary today. All applications and entries are to be sent to kestrelandriley@hotmail.com.

Fancomic Contest: Enter your own comic with K&R characters and see if you win! Extra points for creativity and being true to character.

Caption Contest: What do you think Kestrel would say? Take an old K&R comic, erase the lettering, and write your OWN ideas inside. The best 5 will be posted the week of the big party!

Themed Fanart: Draw as many characters as you can fit onto a page with a single theme! For example, draw Kestrel, Riley, Chee, Atreyu, and Anibunny as cupcakes. Or vampires. Or fish.

I will be putting up another section in the archives a week before the 27th, filled with pre-website comics that I drew for my cartooning class. See the evolution of K&R!

Also, this week's comic is a tad political. Not about the election, no, no. I'd rather stab out my eyeballs with a spork then go NEAR that mess. At this point I'm willing to vote for ANYONE as long as they knock off the DRAMA. Jeez, the Democrats especially are worse than junior high students!

I have also had the distinct pleasure of adopting a kitten for a week. What a glorious week it has been.

Happy 4th of July!

I've been rehearsing for State Fair like crazy. I have two parts, a tap-dancing clown and a backup singer for Emily Arden, as well as being in all the big songs. It's gonna be a lot of fun. Also, K&R's first birthday is coming up! That's right, August 27 is the official anniversary of Kestrel and Riley's first online comic. I will be putting up some contests and perhaps some merchandise, as well as getting a site critique by a few prominent webcomic artists. I also would like to have a party or something. We will see.

My landlady got herself a laptop and wireless internet, so I can now connect to the net from my apartment! This means that *gasp* I might actually update on time!

Kestrel speaks (groggily):

No comic this week. I'm sorry, life sucks, but after I got back from a trip with my sisters, I came down with some kind of flu-cum creeping crud-sicklyness. It was nasty.

And please don't think that I was just lazing around with a case of the sniffles. Yesterday I had a temperature of over 102 degrees. That means NOT GOOD for those of you who aren't medically acquainted.

Chee and Mr Coffee are coming to visit me today!!! I've spent most of the morning cleaning house and doing various housekeeping things. Still no word on the part in State Fair. Maybe I didn't get one.

Also, Riley is moving, either this week or the next, to go to an out-of-state college. *cue tears* DON'T LEAVE MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

I really can't think of much to say. I auditioned today for a musical production that the local theatre is putting on, called State Fair. I had to dance (and sucked). I have no idea what part I will get, as I usually tell the director to stick me in whatever empty slot they need, and I am flexible (and flat) enough to do a male role with ease. So, it will be interesting.
